HEALTH Smoking 2

PREMIUM --

STRICTLY EMBARGOED UNTIL 00.01 ON JANUARY 1, 2004.
Steve Plumb, 40, from Peterborough, stands next to a poster issued by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) warning of the dangers that smoking cigarettes can have on the heart, at a press launch in central London, Monday December 29, 2003. The advertising campaign shows a cigarette dripping with fat to represent the fat that can build up in our arteries from smoking and which can lead to coronary heart disease. Steve has smoked since he was 16 and gave up immediately after sufferng his first heart attack in May of this year. He then suffered a second heart attack shortly afterwards and underwent an angioplasty in July to improve the blood supply in his narrowed veins. See PA story HEALTH Smoking. PA Photo :Johnny Green.
