The tug Point Valiant guides the 90-year-old CSS Acadia along the waterfront in Halifax to a shipyard for conservation work on November 17, 2003. A vintage navy vessel that survived world wars and the Halifax Explosion is falling victim to a more mundane threat -- the destructive force of salt water. The steel-hulled CSS Acadia is a central attraction at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax and is the only remaining vessel to have served the Royal Canadian Navy in both world wars. Story : NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe plans to resign as head of the U.S. space agency, an official familiar with the decision said December 12, 2004. O'Keefe, who presided over NASA during the 2003 shuttle Columbia disaster and its aftermath, was expected to leave his post before the next shuttle takes off next May or later, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
