The Royal barge passing up the River Thames during the Thames Pageant. The Royal Barge, called the Queen's Shallop, made her final voyage as part of this pageant. She was the last of the old state barges. The Pageant celebrated the efforts of English mariners and merchant seamen in the First World War.

(ADVANCE FOR PMS OF THURSDAY, JAN.15--WITH APN STORY BY DICK SINNOTT) (BX1) BOSTON, JAN.13-RUINS OF THE GREAT MOLASSES FLOOD-Ruins of molasses tank containing 2 1/2 million gallons of molasses which erupted Jan. 15, 1919 hurling trucks against building and crumpled houses in Boston's busy North End. the disaster took 21 lives, injured 40 persons and the damage ran to millions.
