Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and French President Francois Mitterrand indicate the flower borders at Chequers which they discussed when she showed him round the grounds of her official country residence in Buckinghamshire. He was there for routine twice-yearly bilateral talks and was accompanied by his Foreign Minister, Roland Dumas (centre in background group) who was there for talks with Foreign Secretary John Major (right of group).
