Liverpool artist John Napper in his studio based in Chelsea, London, with his life-size portrait of the Queen, which was commissioned for Liverpool Town Hall. The painting shows the Queen in a dress of blue taffeta and silver tulle, standing between the lofty pillars of the Grand Staircase in Buckingham Palace. The painting, which would normally take years to complete, was finished in only a few months because it was wanted urgently.
