A single red rose, like the one held here by last year's Miss Great Britain Carolyn Moore, of Nantwich Cheshire, represents the annual rental which the Architects Benevolent Society will give to Sir John Hedges, a Wallingford solicitor, for the site of the old Wallingford Castle on the bank of the Thames at Wallingford, Berkshire. The society is to build a £300,000 residential home on the site. Carolyn has offered to help in fund raising events.
