French President Emmanuel Macron and Lyon's mayor Gérard Collomb during a ceremony to award war resistant Jean Nallit as Grand'croix in the "Legion d'honneur" French order at the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes' prefecture in Lyon, central eastern France, on October 9, 2019, ahead of the two-day conference of Global Fund to Fight HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Macron is to chair the final day of the meeting on October 10, 2019, and meet African heads of state. The fund has asked for $14 billion, an amount it says would help save 16 million lives, avert "234 million infections" and place the world back on track to meet the UN objective of ending the epidemics of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria within 10 years.
