The parliamentary budget officer says it will take Ottawa and the Ontario government until 2043 to break even on government revenues generated from electric-vehicle battery deals with automotive giants Volkswagen and Stellantis-LG Energy Solution. Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne noted the report does not include any potential revenue that may be generated across the supply chain, and he said the investments are crucial to maintaining Canada’s role in the automotive industry.
