Montreal will not replace toppled statue of John A. Macdonald

Montreal’s executive committee has decided not to reinstall a statue of Canada’s first prime minister, John A. Macdonald, three years after protesters tore it down from its pedestal in downtown's Place du Canada. Instead, the city plans to partner with a local institution, such as a museum, to display the statue in a new location and with new contextual information.(Aug. 30, 2023)
