Newsroom Ready: Developers 'favoured' in Greenbelt decision: audit

The province's decision to open up the protected Greenbelt to housing construction favoured "certain developers" with ties to the housing ministry, and failed to consider the potential consequences of the move, an investigation by the auditor general has found. Premier Doug Ford acknowledged that the process of determining which parts of the Greenbelt to develop "should have been better," but said his government would not reverse course, insisting that building in the area was crucial to achieving housing targets. (Aug. 9, 2023)
