Israel on Sunday ordered the local offices of Qatar’s Al Jazeera satellite news network to close. The extraordinary order is believed to be the first time Israel has ever shuttered a foreign news outlet operating in the country. Al Jazeera's bureau chief for Israel and the Palestinian territories called the move a "very dangerous one" and said the channel's legal team was working on a response.
