Some two weeks after Mac DeMarco surprised critics and fans with a new 199-song album, the indie rocker opened up in an interview with The Associated Press about why he decided to do it. He says "One Wayne G" is a deeply personal project — a self-portrait of sorts — and one that he felt would enable him to move forward with making new music.
