Former deputy premier of Alberta Thomas Lukaszuk says he's successfully gathered enough signatures for his petition to make it official policy for the province to stay in Canada. Lukaszuk says it goes to show Albertans are proud Canadians, but Premier Danielle Smith’s government says it will wait for Elections Alberta to validate the signatures before putting the proposal to a referendum.
