CFIA herds ostriches into enclosure ahead of cull

Scores of ostriches could be seen on Thursday herded inside a hay-bale enclosure set up by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency at Universal Ostrich Farms in southeast B.C. The operation comes after the Supreme Court of Canada said it would not hear an appeal by the owners against a cull, removing legal barriers to the killings ordered more than 10 months ago amid an avian flu outbreak.
