A Port of Montreal expansion and a plan to double liquefied natural gas production in B.C. are among the first five projects for fast-track approval under the federal government's major projects legislation. Prime Minister Mark Carney says the projects are feasible, in the national interest, and would represent more than $60 billion in investment. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called the announcement "pathetic." (Sept. 11, 2025)
