Bank of Canada surveys show U.S. tariffs still loom over businesses, consumers

The Bank of Canada’s third quarter survey of businesses shows confidence across the country is still weak thanks largely to persistent trade uncertainty from the United States. Nearly a third of businesses and two-thirds of consumers surveyed separately say they expect a recession to hit in the wake of tariffs. (Oct. 20, 2025)
