Assembly of First Nations extends condolences to Manitoba First Nation after mass stabbing

The national chief of the Assembly of First Nations is calling for more investments into First Nations-led policing initiatives and mental health and addictions support following a mass stabbing attack on the Hollow Water First Nation in Manitoba. Police say Tyrone Simard killed his sister and attacked several others before he died in a collision with an RCMP vehicle. The officer driving the vehicle was also injured. (Sept. 5, 2025)
