Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford signed an agreement to accelerate approval of major projects in the province by limiting reviews to one environmental assessment done by Ontario to satisfy both federal and provincial requirements. Ford says the agreement will speed up approvals for roads, highways, and mines all over Ontario, including in the mineral-rich Ring of Fire region in northern Ontario. (Dec. 18, 2025)
