Justice Minister David Lametti said he believes the government response to the Senate amendments on the medical assistance in dying bill is fair and realistic. The Trudeau government has agreed Canadians suffering solely from grievous and irremediable mental illnesses should be entitled to receive medical assistance in dying — but not for another two years.
