Members of Joyce Echaquan’s community called for stronger action on racism as they held a ceremony to mark the one-year anniversary of her death. Echaquan, an Indigenous woman, filmed herself on Facebook Live while she was humiliated by staff in a hospital northeast of Montreal as she lay dying, sparking outrage across the country.
