PEORIA, Ill. x--18s. A former University of Illinois doctoral student has been sentenced to life in prison in the abduction, rape and killing of a scholar from China. The sentence came after a federal jury failed to agree on a death sentence for Brendt Christensen. Federal prosecutor John Milhiser (mihl-HYZ'-ur) says he respects the jury's deliberations, but feels the death penalty was warranted in this case.
