The Oscars are once again going hostless for a second straight year. ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke confirmed the decision that followed a previous move to have the 2019 Oscars go without an emcee. Despite no host, last year's Academy Awards received positive reviews for its pace. Compared to 2018, viewership also jumped 12 per cent with nearly 30 million tuning in. In May of 2019, Burke hinted that the 2020 event would go without a host as well. The 2020 Oscars are set to air February 9th on ABC.
