Sipekne’katik First Nation Chief Mike Sack voiced frustration over residential school trauma which he said the greater public continues to talk about in the past tense, saying “the residential school stuff is not hundreds of years ago." Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Marc Miller announced over $326,000 for healing programs and fieldwork near the former Shubenacadie residential school in Nova Scotia.
