Singh, Trudeau join teachers, religious groups in decrying Quebec secularism bill

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined advocacy organizations and citizens in denouncing the Quebec government's secularism legislation. Singh says it turns religious minorities into second-class citizens. The bill tabled today would ban the wearing of religious symbols for many public sector employees, including teachers, prosecutors, judges and police officers. Still, Singh says he always feels welcomed in Quebec, and doesn't expect that to change in the upcoming federal election.
