Volunteers continue cleaning coastline after major oil spill in Black Sea

Hundreds of volunteers and emergency workers continued to clean the coastline of Russia’s southern Krasnodar region Wednesday after two Russian ships spilled around 3,700 tons (3,300 tonnes) of low-grade fuel oil into the Kerch Strait. Regional authorities reported Tuesday that around 35km (21 miles) of the coastline were contaminated after the ships were seriously damaged by stormy weather. A state of emergency has been declared in several districts.
