Seniors in long-term care embrace virtual reality

A growing number of long-term care residents in Canada are getting virtual reality as part of their recreation programs. Proponents say the 15-20 minute sessions not only provide entertainment but can help reduce isolation by encouraging residents to share their virtual experiences with recreation staff, fellow residents and family members. They say personalized use of VR can offer calming comfort to many residents with dementia. (Dec. 18, 2024)
