A new 10-bed involuntary treatment facility has opened in a British Columbia jail to treat those who are mentally ill, have brain injuries and are addicted. Standing outside the Surrey Pretrial Centre, Premier David Eby says he understands why some groups might feel anxious about involuntary care in B.C. (April 25, 2025)
