Alberta unveils involuntary addiction treatment law

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's government has introduced promised legislation to force adults and kids into addiction treatment facilities. If passed, the proposed bill would see those using substances and deemed a risk to themselves or others be potentially ordered into treatment in a secure facility for up to three months. (April 15, 2025)
