Brooding Soldier 20170407

The Brooding Soldier is a granite memorial that stands at the location where 18,000 Canadian soldiers on the Western Front withstood the first German gas attack of the First World War. Situated between the Belgium cities of Ypres and Bruges, the column remembers the over 6,000 Canadians who were lost during the Second Battle of Ypres on the 22nd-24th of April 1915.
