A memorial dedicated to the 48th Highlanders of Canada sits located along the Gravenstafel Ridge near the Belgium village of St. Julien. The conflict which involved members of the Canadian 1st Division, was part of the Second Battle of Ypres, April 22-26 1915, and saw the first use of chlorine gas by the German army.
