MUSIC-Hall-Oates

FILE -- Daryl Hall, left, and John Oates, of the 80s pop group Hall & Oates, pose after presenting an award at the 30th annual American Music Awards, Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in Los Angeles. As the story goes, Daryl Hall and John Oates wouldn't have met if it wasn't for a huge fight. Both were in separate bands when they crossed paths at a citywide soul revue in the late 1960s at Philadelphia's Adelphi Ballroom. A riot broke out in the middle of the show, and most of the bands fled once knives and guns appeared.
