Nixon Tapes

** FILE ** With the pictures of former democratic presidents Kennedy and Johnson behind him, Sen. George McGovern introduces Sargent Shriver as his new vice presidential running mate to the Democratic National Committee, on August 9, 1972, in Washington. On July 11, 2007, officials released 78,000 documents and 11 hours of taped conversations from Nixon's presidency as part of a transfer of control of the Richard M. Nixon Library and Birthplace to the federal government from private interests. The new material shows a keen interest in tainting the Democratic ticket of McGovern and Shriver by any means possible.
