July 26, 2023, Corfu, Greece: This 3D image, created using data from the European Space Agency’s Copernicus Sentinel Satellite, shows the extent of wildfires on the Greek island of Corfu on 25 July 2023..The islands of Rhodes, Corfu, and areas and areas near the capital, Athens have been hard hit by fires which began late this month....Three people became the first known fatalities on Tuesday of wildfires, as the infernos destroyed homes and forced tourist evacuations..Two pilots were killed when their Canadair CL-215 plane fighting wildfires crashed on the island of Evia, east of Athens.
