Yolande Boulanger referring to maps showing the route of a proposed rail detour that will pass close by her home in Lac-M ©gantic, Quebec, is photographed on Mar 17, 2022. Fred Lum/The Globe and Mail. The 270 acre farm, in the family since 1933, will be cleaved by a rail detour line that will bypass downtown Lac-M ©gantic and cut a swath through some farms. On July 6, 2013, 73 rail cars from the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway left a parked area nearby and sped down to the Quebec town and exploded, killing 47 residents and levelling much of the downtown area.
