FALKLAND ISLANDS ANNIVERSARY

The sky lights up as the British frigate HMS Antelope explodes in San Carlos Bay in the Falkland Islands in this May 25, 1982 photo. Tuesday, April 2, 2002 is the 20th anniversary of Argentina's invasion of the islands, off the South American coast, on April 2, 1982. The ensuing 10-week war with Britain killed 712 Argentines, 255 Britons and three islanders. Argentine forces surrendered on June 14, which is commemorated as Liberation Day on the islands.
