MOVE BUYOUT

Row houses in Philadelphia burn after officials dropped explosives on the MOVE house in this May,1985 photo. Most of the 61 homeowners who lost their homes to the fire have been plagued by shoddy workmanship on their rebuilt homes, and have reluctantly decided to accept Mayor John F. Street's offer of $150,000 to relocate, closing one of the sorriest chapters in Philadelphia's history. Taxpayers have already spent more than $35 million on the rebuilt homes and city officials decided to buy out the residents, rather than continue paying for repairs. (AP Photo)
