EWING TRADE

Patrick Ewing accepts his New York Knicks jersey from Dave DeBusschere, right, general manager of the Knicks in New York on Tuesday, June 18, 1985. Ewing was the first pick in the first round of the National Basketball Association draft. Ewing's 15-year career with the Knicks was on the verge of ending Wednesday night Sept. 20, 2000 as New York, the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Seattle SuperSonics worked out the final details of a major multiplayer trade. The Knicks were set to send Ewing to Seattle and receive Glen Rice from the Lakers and Luc Longley from the Suns. Among the other players moving were Horace Grant from Seattle to Los Angeles and Chris Dudley from New York to Phoenix, according to several NBA sources who spoke on conditionof anonymity.(AP Photo/Marty Lederhandler)
