FILE - Soldiers search the crater left after the crash of Pan Am flight 103 near the town of Lockerbie, Scotland after a bomb aboard exploded, killing a total of 270 people, in this December 21, 1988 file photo. The son of a former Libyan intelligence officer convicted of the bombing says his father has died in Tripoli. Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was released in 2009 from his Scottish prison on humanitarian grounds, suffering from prostate cancer. His death was announced on Sunday May 20 2012 by his son, Khaled.
