GREECE PARTHENON

The Parthenon temple in Athens, Greece is seen in this February 1985 photo. In one of the most ambitious restoration projects ever conducted atop the Acropolis, eight damaged columns on the 2,300-year-old Parthenon temple will be taken down and repaired. The three-year restoration project, estimated to cost $5.7 million, was announced earlier this week and involves restoring the outside of the columns and the entablature- the horizontal beam that includes the cornice and frieze.(AP Photo)
