In one of the most ambitious restoration projects ever conducted atop the Acropolis, eight damaged columns on the 2,300-year-old Parthenon temple will be taken down and repaired. The three-year restoration project, estimated to cost $5.7 million, was announced earlier this week and involves restoring the outside of the columns and the entablature- the horizontal beam that includes the cornice and frieze.(AP Photo)
