Medical Marijuana 20131023
A licenses granted by Health Canada to grow cannabis for medicine under the Marihuana Medical Access Program (MMAP) is shown in south-west Quebec on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Health Canada is transitioning from the MMAP, its the current program that permits patients to grow their own cannabis, to the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR), where patients will have to purchase their supply from approved and licensed suppliers. By April 2014, home-grown gardens like the one at Sandy Daviau's Farmacy will be outlawed. Davieau says the change is difficult to swallow considering the challenges he originally faced in acquiring the licenses two years ago. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Justin Tang
