Wildfire triggers regional state of emergency for parts of N.L.
Newfoundland and Labrador has declared a state of regional emergency for the Bay de Verde peninsula area north of Bristol's Hope and Whiteway due to ongoing wildfires in the area. Premier John Hogan said fire conditions were so intense that some ground crews on the Kingston fire in the Conception Bay North area had to be pulled due to safety concerns. (Aug. 9, 2025)
