Quebec filmmaker's Oscar-nominated debut inspired by friend's death

Montreal's Vincent René-Lortie says he almost quit filmmaking before his debut short “Invincible” was nominated for an Oscar. The film is inspired by true events involving René-Lortie’s childhood friend, Marc-Antoine Bernier, who died after driving a stolen car into a river. (March 8, 2024)
