Pennsylvania Executions

FILE-- In this July 2, 1988, file photo, Gary Heidnik, right, is escorted from a holding cell in Philadelphia after a jury convicted him of first degree murder, kidnapping and rape in the slaying of two women and the imprisonment of four others in his basement torture chamber. Since Heidnik's execution ten years ago by lethal injection, there have been no executions in the commonwealth, and Heidnik's fate is the exception on Pennsylvania's death row, fourth-largest in the nation. In this state and others, death row inmates are far more likely to die of natural causes than injected chemicals, gas, electricity or bullets. (AP Photo/Amy Sancetta, File)
