Family of pilot who died in Second World War seeks recognition

The family of a Canadian pilot who died during the Second World War after his plane crashed in the United Kingdom is calling on the Canadian government to recognize the sacrifice he made eight decades ago. William Stuart McMullen was flying a Lancaster bomber over a densely populated town when it caught fire mid-air. He ordered his six crew members to evacuate and steered the plane away from a densely populated town Darlington, where people have honoured him ever since. (May 8, 2025)
