Eleven die in Montreal area as heat continues

Officials in Montreal say 11 people have now died from heat-related complications And another four people have died in the Eastern Townships region east of the city It says it's received more than 1,000 calls per day in Montreal recently – 30 per cent more than usual The city's ambulance service has also been flooded by calls since the heat wave began Officials are asking people not to call 911 unless it is a true emergency Instead, people are being asked to check in with family or call a provincial health-consultation line Environment Canada says a heat warning remains in effect in much of eastern Canada
