ALTA DIAMONDS

(CGY 101) CALGARY, Alberta, June 25--LOOKS PROMISING--A promising find in the NWT in 1990 has an Australian company planning Canada's first diamond mine about 300-kilometres north of Yellowknife. Alberta's similar geological traits - a heavy Precambrian crust, promising mineral deposits and a history of volcanic activity - are excellent signs of the province's potential. Aprox. $30,000 pictured in Calgary. (CP PHOTO) 1996 (stf-Dave Buston)djb
